As the joy of gift giving fades and the reality of holiday spending hits your bank account this January, bargain shopping for fabulous style is a resolution must. Ideally, we could buy anything we wanted at Neiman Marcus, regardless of the price tag. But that’s not the real world, and besides, it’s just as easy to achieve that $1,000 look without breaking the bank. My motto is wear what you love, no matter your budget. Either of these almost-identical winter looks is perfect for cozying up by the fire or toasting the new year with your girlfriends. With drastically different price tags, you can strut a winter-chic wardrobe in style and within your own budget.
Jewelry is a great example of how to look like a million bucks without spending a fortune. While nice watches and classic jewelry are great investment items, inexpensive costume jewelry is a fabulous way to stay on trend without dipping into your savings for a new pair of earrings.
Over-the-knee boots are the trend right now, and we are seeing them everywhere: in magazines and style blogs, on models and friends. Boots are usually a splurge item for me because a well-made (and typically more expensive) pair of leather boots will last much longer than a poorly made (and typically less expensive) option. However, I broke the bank buying the seemingly splurge-worthy Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots, but then I found a similar pair for less than $300 that I actually receive more compliments on. In this case, save your money for another splurge!
Classic handbags like this Chanel Boy bag are wardrobe staples that can be passed on to your kids and grandkids. These types of handbags are iconic for a reason: They last a lifetime. Years of good use and impeccable style help justify the designer investment. Luckily, if you’re simply not in the market for this type of luxury item, there are countless alternative options that will give you the same style at a fraction of the cost.
Bottom line: I can’t justify $595 on a brand-name cardigan when I can find a look-alike piece from Forever 21 for $21.80. Except for staples (like a black leather jacket), clothing is a savings goldmine. If splurge money were no object, I would regularly purchase higher-quality garments. However, until I hit the jackpot, I will be saving on affordable look-alikes, especially for trends that may come and go in one season.

Say hello to the perfect Fall outfit when it is still 90 degrees outside! This MinkPink sleeveless, fit & flare dress is a great weight and great for those warmer days. Don’t have time to head home to change for a night out or drinks with the boyfriend?? Throw on a furry vest!! You’ll get the warmth, style and you wont be overly hot either. Sounds like a winner to me!!
ACL goers are currently consuming the city of Austin for the next 2 weekends, and man, do we see a wide range of “fashion” out there! This is one of the busiest times of the year for me as so many people are wondering how to look cute yet stay extremely comfortable in this crazy Texas weather.
You will definitely be standing and walking around the majority of the day without an AC so comfort is key… First and foremost, bring sunscreen! Our Texas sun is HOT and is unforgiving! Not only will you get sunburned, you will get heat exhaustion if you aren’t careful. So, please, stay hydrated and wear sunscreen!
Now, to the fun stuff! Dressing for ACL is a project on it’s own so I wanted to make this easy for all of the fashion forward ladies out there!
Here is my ACL fashion survival kit all under $100:
Hat – H&M (Similar HERE)
Bralette – Free People
If anyone lives in Texas, you probably know how ridiculous I look in these photos. Not only was it still 95 degrees outside but it was outrageously humid! I have to say, I think I totally pulled off winter wear in the Texas heat!
With that being said, I CAN’T WAIT FOR FALL!!! That is an understatement. I literally cannot wait for cooler weather! I have stockpiled winter clothing and have been non-stop shopping for sweater weather! It just doesn’t seem to want to make it to Austin anytime soon. Sad face. Enjoy these awesome photos though! Just keep in mind how hot it was outside and you’ll get a good laugh!

I recently wrote an article for Austin Woman Magazine about what timeless style is all about and styled and modeled outfit examples of what a 20 year old all the way to a 60 year old could easily pull off. In a world of ever-evolving wardrobe trends, a common thread remains: Classic fashion never goes out of style. Here are my top 5 looks that made their way into the magazine. Outfit details are below each photo. Outfit Details: Outfit Details: Dress – Lela Rose (ON MAJOR SALE!) As most of my long time followers know, not only am I a fashion blogger as of the past 9 months but have been a freelance commercial advertising wardrobe stylist for 5 + years. SXSW is normally a time I pack everything up and head out of town for some R&R until an amazing job comes along. I rarely post any of my wardrobe styling work since it doesn’t really tie in to fashion blogging, but this was too good not to share.
Lyft contacted me on my birthday to help out with, what I thought, was a campaign photoshoot during SXSW. Little did I know it was even COOLER!! They were planning an “activation” called Magic Mode since Lyft is the official rideshare partner of SXSW 2015. And man, did they go all out!
9 drivers, 9 cars.
Let me rephrase that – 9 drivers in full costume to go along with the 9 vintage + modern day sports cars. I’ve had quite a few friends already posting and texting that they were in some of the Magic Mode cars! This “activation” ran from Friday – Sunday to kick of SXSW.
Our awesome photog, Max Morse, snapped some of the character shots below before the drivers went out for the first day of driving. Like I said on my Instagram, this has definitely been the BEST project I have ever worked on in my years of wardrobe styling. The Lyft team is AMAZING and gave me full creative freedom on these costumes, and I have to say, they came out pretty dead on! Even the passengers commented on how accurate they looked compared to their cars. Gotta love hearing that!
Check out some of these shots and let me know if you rode with any of the drivers!!

I had the pleasure of styling the gorgeous Camila Alves for the January issue of Austin Woman Magazine. I had anxiously been awaiting the release of the brand new, resized issue so I could see how amazing the shots came out! Not only is Ms. Alves absolutely stunning in person she was an absolute joy to be around. Check out all of the photos from our shoot below! <3
I recently had the pleasure to shoot with Houston Interior Designer, Paloma Contreras for the November issue of House Beautiful. It’s on stands now, so go pick up a copy!! Here are a few fun, behind the scenes with a shot of the 2 potential looks we had to choose from for the article. I just LOVED that Kate Spade dress!!
We first shot at Area, a furniture store in Houston and then moved on to Tiny Boxwood’s Cafe! That place is AMAZING! If you’re in the Houston area you definitely need to check it out and get a chocolate chip cookie! To die for.
